NYC, October 13, 16 & 17
ESMF once again manned a the Mastiff booth Oct 15 & 16 for the AKC Meet the Breeds event in NYC. Earlier in the week we took part in a Press Preview and Street Teams to promote the event. We set up an abbreviated version of our booth in a Times Square hotel. The Borracci's with 17 month old Bones and 12 month old Spock were joined by Carrie Nolin and 2.5 year old Mugsy for a few hours of picture taking and interviewing. Later the Borracci's did some impromptu meeting and greeting in Times Square before moving on to Grand Central Station to  join an AKC Street Team. Essentially Bones, Spock and the Borracci girls--Veronica and Morgan-- stopped traffic and handed out magnets promoting the event.

Friday, Pat & Joe Borracci spent a few hours setting up the booth. Returning Saturday with children and 3 dogs in tow (Kirk, Bones and Spock). Maria Ruoto and her dog Clark joined for the morning session. Thankfully we had some dog-free hands come along to help out with all the talking points--Trish McAndrews, Erica Tortorella and our MCOA VP and AKC Delegate Dr Newman were a huge help.

This year's booth expanded on last year's castle theme. We added an EZ-Up, a new poster, a slide show of the MCOA Mastiff History and FAQ, a binder of the slideshow and prints of some important slides. We tried very hard to make the booth more educational and visitor friendly. I would say that we succeeded since our booth won First Place in the Working Group!

There were over 39,000 visitors to the event this year. We were visited by the guys from Rescue Ink, local politicians and your everyday dog lover. Time and again we were thanked by the AKC folks for being accommodating and willing to help them out with interviews and photo-ops. It was a great PR event for us! Last year the AKC photographers took a few pictures of Kirk and Bones (then just 5 months old). This year we saw one of those photos used to promote the AKC Political Action Committee!

It will be a tough act to follow but we are already thinking about what we can do for next year!
